I remember the exact moment I knew I wanted to pursue a creative path professionally. I was sitting at my mom’s desk, surrounded by the tools of her craft—leather scraps, old jeans, sewing machines working in the background, measuring tapes draped over dress forms. The particular smell of leather , and the sounds of the sewing machines felt like music to my curious, creative mini-self.

Spotted out in New York City this week, the 33-year-old Uncut Gemsactor was wearing a backless (and sideless) ultra-minidress made from upcycled denim waistbands by Mpaz Studio...

The unusual outfit, which leaves large parts of the body exposed and is called the Ocean Dress, was not the responsibility of the Uncut Gems actress, but of MPAZ Studio, a brand specializing in recycled denim clothing, from corsets to cropped trousers.

Her single-shoulder minidress is made of vertically sewn-together jeans waistbands, which create an asymmetrical fringe effect at the hem. The dress is held together by even more waistbands that sit on her hip, giving a whole new meaning to "low rise" jeans.
